Step 1)

Export your subscription as OPML file from your reader.

Step 2)

Click on the setting link on the top right of google reader.

Step 3)

Select Import / Export tab. Browse and select your OPML from your local machine.

After selecting the OPML from your local machine. Click on the upload button.

You can add your new subscription to your desired folder.

Let me explain the steps to make your google reader off line.

Step 1)

Click on the link on your top right corner of your google reader with anchor text offline near your sign out link. If you haven’t installed google gear it will show a popup to install google gear. After installing google gear you are entitled to ask another popup like below.

Step 2)

After allowing the google reader as a trust application to google gear your reader will show a green icon on the top right.

Step 3)

After clicking on the icon the google gear starts downloading content to local machine for off line access. Basically the process is very sluggish. Don’t worry we don’t need to bother about it for a while.

Step 4)

Your google reader is now offline.

Step 5)

Make your offline reader online to read latest feeds. For this, click on the blue icon on the top right. It will start synchronizing.

This is very important topic, which create a contingency factor in the wireless world. All of us know that world is going wireless day by day. Everything that is wired are going wireless. In a country like India, this has more importance since our internet infrastructure is improving every day.

I hope some of you heard about the mesh networking. Anyway let me explain what is mesh network?

The mesh can be formed by adding node in the network accordingly upon the signal strength. The routing happens by continuous configuring and reconfiguring the path according to the availability of nodes. One such mesh network is meraki. But recently they changed their plans which make not affordable for common people now.

Now Open-Mesh is there to compete with meraki. The Open-Mesh do have fully web interface to configure and control your network like meraki have. We can even control the bandwidth to a single router. What make importance to Open-Mesh is the cost of their hardware, around 49$ for a single purchase and 10$ reduction if we purchase 20 pieces.

The Open-Mesh is using open source RO.B.IN (ROuting Batman Inside) mesh network project to attain mesh networking so that even we are able to modify the firmware, whereas meraki using BATMAN routing algorithm.

Suppose you want to enable your suburb wifi enabled with internet connection. What we require is a DSL connection and couple of open-mesh hardware (depend upon the area you want to cover). You can control the whole network using a web interface provided by open-mesh. If you want to extend the area, simply by adding nodes. After enabling your city wifi you can even start voice calls inside your city free of cost (charging for voice calls is another business model).

This is one of our pet project started a couple of months back. The idea is to bring visibility of your pages to stumbleupon. I hope all of you people know how stumbleupon works? One of the best web 2.0 application now available online is google docs. A lot of Microsoft office users are now using google doc instead, for document preparation. I heard an audio book last week “getting things done fast”. He explained one point to maintain a to-do list every time. When he explained about this I am not so much convinced in maintaining a simple to-do list improve my performance. I decided to make a try and how much it is going to improve my work. Frankly speaking now a day’s I can’t start a day without to-do list. Maintaining to-do list improved my performance a lot. Now I won’t forget anything since I am regularly watching and updating to-do list.

I am using tadalist to maintain my to-do list. It is an online to-do list by 37signal. Very cool and simple interface even a child can understand well what the application without anyones help. I am using this tool since I am online always. If you don’t have access to internet every time use to-do list available in your mobile phone. I am sure this will improve your performance.

Don’t be baulked to try to-do list. If you are a manager then its pretty important to call people’s at right time, adding those calls as a to-do, won’t allow you to miss those calls and business follow ups. Those who are doing different things each day should definitely follow this.

It released some times back but I saw it today. I was wondering why I use google chat gadget for group chat. I feel really ashamed about me. Anyways let me explain how to start a group chat using gmail web chat. Click the option menu available when chatting.

The gmail group chat conversation started. Now you invite individuals for group chat.

I dont know if people using Mozilla are aware of this feature. Placing bookmark buttons in the mozilla browser , other than the bookmarks option appearing in Menu item(’Bookmarks’).

In the picture above you can see some buttons/keys between the URL textbox and the browser Tabs. They are the bookmark visual interface keys.

Advantages:

• One click to your marked web pages.
• You can even group multiple pages to a single folder with a common name. (eg: in the pic, ASP.Net is a folder in which the related pages are grouped).

Dis-advantages:

• Once the space is over (known as front row space), all bookmarks are not available in the front row.

How to place bookmarks?

1. In the picture as you see, right click on the portion where you can place bookmarks, you can add new bookmarks manually.
2. Drag and drop the tab to the bookmark portion.
3. To enable the corresponding icon, simply click the bookmark button once placed. You get it.
