There’s a good chance that by now, you are hopefully aware how important it is to have a Facebook page. That being said, most people who have one are not utilizing it to its full potential. This is a very valuable resource, if you don’t take the time to learn how to make the most of it, you may as well not have it at all.

If you have a product, service or any type of business to advertise, Facebook marketing is proven effective. Social networking has made it easy to reach an incredible number of people in a very short period of time but you have to actually invest a bit of time into your page for it to really work for you.

Complete Your Profile

You simply must fill out your profile for anyone to take any real interest in you. Think about it, if you visit a Facebook page and there is no profile information, how interested are you? Are you typically going to like that page? Not only can you offer basic company information, you can upload as many videos and images as you want so take advantage of this!

Do More with a Business Page

When you have a business page, you can add graphics and customize it exactly how you want it to look to represent your company. Not sure where to even begin? Look at other hot business pages and see what they are doing. Use this for inspiration only, the last thing you want to do is copy what someone else is doing and end up looking generic.

If you look at some of the big name companies, you will see:

  • Audi – Allows you to download graphics.
  • Victoria’s Secret – See a sneak peak of an upcoming collection or sales.
  • BlackBerry – Provides PlayBook offerings.
  • Disney – Shows off everyone’s favorite characters.

You will also see companies like Adidas and many others who have a giant arrow pointing to the Like button to make sure you get the point as to what you are supposed to do.

Extend Your Network

The more expanded your network is the larger audience you have the opportunity to address. More fans means more potential customers which amounts to greater revenue. Not to mention, the more people you connect with the more likely you target those who will share your page.

Create Events

Keep in mind, events don’t have to be physical events, they can be sales, free shipping, times for discussion, etc. An event allows you to promote offers to those who haven’t already joined your network. These are extremely important to target people who you wouldn’t otherwise have made contact with.


Whether you create your own group page or join others doesn’t really matter. What does matter is that you get involved. Groups allow for discussion and this type of interaction is always good!

Most importantly, stay involved! You cannot post and interact and then not continue to stay involved or your fans, friends and group members will lose interest. There’s always going to be another page fighting for attention, you need to fight harder to keep what you have.
