Soon after the release of Nokia Lumia 925, BlackBerry has announced a budget friendly Q5 smartphone on Tuesday. This smartphone comes with a full QWERTY keyboard below it’s display. It has a thinner profile when compared to the current flagship BlackBerry. This phone is smaller and has a sleeky design and comes in cool colors like red, pink, black, and white.

Just like Q10 phone this model too have a 3.1″ touchscreen with pixel dimensions of 720×720. However, the Q5 comes with  a normal TFT LCD when compared to Q10′s AMOLED display. Both have the same resolution however, so the sharpness and space you have to play with is almost similar. The Q5 has a non-removable 2100mAh battery whereas the Q10 has a removable 2100mAh unit.

The company also mentioned that it will offer its once-popular BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) service on iPhones and devices running Google’s Android software.

It is for youthful fans that are passionate, confident and bold, and it makes it easy for them to have fun, create, share and stay connected.” He announced the phone on Tuesday at the opening ceremony of  company’s annual three-day conference in Orlando, Florida.

Blackberry Q5 is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual core processor and it comes with a 5 megapixel camera, 8 GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, and 2100 mAh battery. This phone will have a  BlackBerry 10 OS software. Therefore in UI you can expect a mix of touch, type, and swipe. The BlackBerry Q5 looks almost similar to  a Q10  but comes with vibrant colours in matte plastic. Q5 comes with only 8GB of flash memory for storage when compared to the 16GB memory of the  Q10.

A recent press release said that the BlackBerry Q5 will be available for in selected markets in Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America, from July. Though it is said to be a budget friendly smartphone there is no news about it’s Indian price.  The revealed specs of this smartphone are given below:

Within two months, this budget friendly smartphone will reach most of the tech  geeks hands. It is expected that Q5 will capture all the company’s lost market-share to Apple’s iPhone and devices running Google’s Android software.
