As debit and credit cards replace cash in most transactions, the risks to consumers increase. While a cash theft is limited to the amount carried at the time of the crime, debit cards are tied directly into a victim’s bank account, and safeguards at the point of sale are often insufficient to prevent access to the compromised account.

Convenience is another key issue, as multiple interchangeable debit and credit cards can be difficult to track. Fortunately, programmable credit cards can overcome many of these hurdles, bringing innovative levels of security and convenience to the purchasing experience.

Programmable cards look much like their static counterparts, with most of their additions beneath the waterproof plastic surface. A series of buttons on the front allow passcode entry for increased security, or facilitate switching the card between several linked accounts. The magnetic strip on the card’s back is instantly reprogrammable, and the card is powered by a battery with a lifespan of four years.

Programmable credit cards are more secure. When locked, the embedded magnetic strip contains an invalid code that will not scan. In order to be of any use, the customer must first enter a unique passcode using the keys on the card’s front. Anyone who steals the card without knowing this passcode simply has a useless piece of plastic. Even the number is not displayed, rendering the card useless for online transactions. Since these enjoy none of the security checks of physical points of sale, programmable credit cards effectively counter the largest risk of credit card theft.

Programmable credit cards can also store more than one account. Consumers can store personal and corporate accounts on a single card, or can keep all consumer cards in a single place. Programmable cards are not limited to credit accounts, however. Any card with a magnetic strip can be stored, including most customer reward cards.

Programmable credit cards are a unique technology not only for their benefit to consumers, but also due to their compatibility with existing systems. Rare is the technological leap that brings massive value to one participant in an interaction while requiring few or no changes for another. For instance, Near Field Communication is poised to revolutionize payments entirely by replacing cash or credit cards with phones, but these technologies require custom point-of-sale hardware. Programmable credit cards work well with 40-year-old magnetic readers, and sales staff require no additional training in their use.

As with any other new technology, its method of adoption is key to its success. While this universal remote of credit cards seems like a great consumer product, it appears to be experiencing initial distribution by banks and other financial institutions. In particular, Citibank is performing a trial run of a programmable card that allows exchanging rewards points for cash. With any luck, versions of such cards that are programmable by consumers themselves will soon be available. Furthermore, these cards use the same magnetic strip made via ID card printers. These two technologies might one day converge, providing the ability to create more than just credit or reward cards.

Programmable credit cards offer customers increased security and greater convenience in a package that is compatible with existing sales hardware. This powerful combination poises these rewritable cards as a technology which is sure to transform how payments are made.

This is an exciting option for anyone looking for a noise-free listening environment or a way to enhance television and movies. It’s a practical device that also offers the luxury of incredible audio performance for video and music. You’ll love the way it combines a comfortable feel with a user-friendly interface to make wireless entertainment as easy as possible. After a long day at work there will be nothing better than plopping yourself down on the couch and plugging yourself into your favorite forms of media. Whether you want to re-live your favorite television series on DVD or thrill yourself with the latest sci-fi action flick, these are the headphones for the job. Pioneer has come up with a winning product, and if you can afford the hefty price tag you’ll be in for home audio heaven.

One of the problems with wireless technology in the past has been in compatibility with other devices or a general weakness in signal. You don’t have to worry about that with the Pioneer SE-DIR800C because it is a multipurpose device that will integrate perfectly into your entertainment system. It will connect to any 5.1 channel source including DVD players, satellite receivers, digital cable boxes and even game consoles. The ability to use it across devices adds true value and as long as you don’t require online communication, there’s no reason why you can’t use it as a gaming headset either.

In terms of the transmitter and signal strength, you’ll enjoy up to 26 feet range of motion and that should be more than enough for any standard entertainment room. It doesn’t matter if you’re sitting upside down or sideways in the corner, these headphones are designed to work under all circumstances. That really comes in handy for longer movie-viewing sessions because you can adjust your position and move around freely without interrupting the action. When you add in the fact that these headphones are incredibly comfortable, you can be assured that listener fatigue won’t be a factor.

This great product not only intensifies sound, it has a level of nuance thanks to Dolby technology that is layered throughout the system. There are also five virtual speakers contained within each headset that will give you an immersive feel while giving you a stunning dimension of sound that complements big-screen TVs perfectly. One of the best features of the Pioneer SE-DIR800C is the virtual room capability that essentially re-creates different types of listening environments with the touch of a button. For example, if you want to feel like you’re watching a movie in a theater then switch over to the “small room” setting to simulate that experience. On the other hand, if you’ve got a brand-new classical music CD and you want to feel like you’re listening to it in the middle of a concert hall, the “large room” setting is going to make your audio dreams come true. You have the ability to customize according to your preferences and everything is handily laid out so you don’t have to fumble around with controls to get the settings you like. This onboard volume control combined with completely wireless technology means you might never have to get up off the couch ever again.

The only downside to the Pioneer SE-DIR800C is the hefty price tag which might be beyond the average budget. At the same time, if you can come up with a way to afford this model you’ll be rewarded with something that excels in every key category. You’ll rest confident in the fact that you’re getting one of the best products on the market while being able to enjoy a level of sound that cheaper headphones cannot offer. This is also the type of device you can buy comfortably while being assured you won’t have to upgrade anytime soon. Overall, this is an example of how great home audio can be and definitely worth a look if you want to take your entertainment room to the next level.

This look at the Pioneer SE-DIR800C comes to us from our friends at karaokemachineguide.com who are true fans of home entertainment, audio, and all the fun wireless headphones for TV has to offer.

As civilisation advances at a rapid pace, the speed of digital computers appears to be at the forefront of human innovation. Indeed, computers even now can perform many of the talks now that had to be done manually only 10 or 15 years ago. But how would you feel about trusting a computer with your car? Well you may find out sooner than you think! Scientists from Oxford University have developed a car that can drive itself without the need of a human. However, what makes it special is that it actually sees the world around it, by combining a number of technologies including cameras, radar and lasers.

Of course we see some of these innovations in some of our top of the range road cars, and the Google car is a prime example of that. However, this car is different; it uses a 3D map of its surroundings, which allows it to react in real time to any hazards, giving it many advantages over GPS.

GPS is usually used to locate the car within a few meters, therefore it is not accurate enough to use as a basis for the self-drive car, however, its integration of laser, cameras and radar means the 3D map is so accurate it can match that of a human driver.

Leader of the project is Professor Paul Newman, who hopes to create safer and cleaner roads by making robotic automated cars. He claims that even the accessibility of cars would be increased. But, surely many people love driving, and I personally can see that demand for such a car might hard to create amongst certain demographics, but long journeys would perhaps be made far more comfortable.

To achieve Professor Newman’s vision the project has received a large amount of funding, totalling £1.4 million, given by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research council.

So what does this mean for the future of motoring? Will any of the current generation outlive the human car driver? Will the driving test become a thing of the past in the near future? For me, I expect not. I can see this sort of technology benefitting the older generation, particularly on long car journeys, but for me, many people enjoy the feeling of complete control over a car, rightly or wrongly pushing it to its limits. Ultimately the people are likely to begrudge handing over yet another human task over to the computer – particularly one so enjoyed by many.

Martin Wright is a writer and car lover who loves buying used cars and doing them up, he made a 40% profit on a used Ford recently.

Flying RC helicopters actually has a lot to offer hobbyists in terms of enjoyment, but there is a problem that many hobbyists face when they try to get a group together to fly their favorite models. RC helicopters are a sadly unpopular pastime. It’s very possible that you might not know any RC enthusiasts in your area. However, this doesn’t mean that it has to stay that way for long. Introducing some friends to your RC helicopter hobby can make a huge difference when it comes to RC popularity.

Both RC cars and RC helicopters are great when it comes to introducing your friends to the hobby. This is because both cars and helicopters can perform stunts easily, and also tend to have a “cool” appearance. Being able to show the fun in an RC helicopter’s details, or getting your friend to help choose decals for your RC car can be a good way to get them interested in coming along for the ride. It’s very important not to force things when it comes to introducing your friend to any new hobby, RC copters included. Otherwise, they will resent both you and your favorite hobby for quite some time.

RC Helicopter

Once you get your friend interested in coming with you as you experience your RC helicopter hobby, you have to do a little bit of planning. If your friend is big into art and design, getting him to help you paint or modify your RC helicopter or RC car is a good way to start. Friends who are more into action, wild videos, and being able to do unusual things are best off actually taking the big jump into RC helicopters by getting their hands on the remote. Showing a couple of the tricks that your RC helicopter can achieve will be all of the push that they will need.

After they get their first taste of RC copters, there’s a pretty good chance that they will want to do it again. If this is the case, you probably will know that they will want an RC helicopter for their next birthday or Christmas present. Getting more people into the mix is easier once you have a first friend who also shares your hobby. Much of this is the law of large numbers – the bigger the present group is, the more likely it is that people will want to join in the fun.

Some of the iPads tend to have some issues with the Wi-Fi connectivity, for trouble shooting this defect; apple itself has put forward certain steps which might prove useful for resolving them. Let us take a look at what they are.

If your device is repeatedly getting problems when connecting to a particular Wi-Fi network, then you can do the following steps for resolving the issue, first thing to try is to update the Wi-Fi router firmware. Just verify that the Wi-Fi router firmware is up to
date and if not, update it. Next thing you can do is to verify that you are using WPA or WPA2 wireless security. If not, use them from now on. It’s been known that some Wi-Fi routers which are using WEP wireless security, may cause intermittent disconnecting
to iPad which requires re-typing a password for connecting again. Using WPA or WPA2 wireless security on your network will automatically resolve this issue.

It’s also a good practice to check to see whether your screen brightness is set to the lowest level by going to Settings > Brightness & Wallpaper. If brightness is at lowest
level, just increase it by moving the slider to the right and set auto brightness to off.

Finally, renew IP address if needed, in some larger wireless networks it might be
necessary for you to renew your IP address. You can renew your IP address using the
following steps: go to Settings > Wi-Fi, locate the current network which you are using
and then click it, then click “Renew Lease” if the problem is still present, just restart
the Wi-Fi and the problem will be solved for sure. Once the problem is fixed, you can
access Wi-Fi properly just like before. Happy browsing.

MagicJack is a communications device which allows users to make calls to almost any phones in the whole USA and Canada and that too in a very cheap rate. This device looks more like larger USB flash drive and it also works in the similar manner. You can plug them into the USB port of the computer, this device also uses the standard RJ-11 Jack which can be used for plugging any kind of standard telephone.

Magic jack provides VoIP service in cooperation with the telecommunications giant, YMAX Corporation in entire USA and Canada and no other service has been able to match the features provided by MajicJack. For a normal user, magicjack is just like a normal telephone, having all the features like caller ID, call waiting, call conferencing, call forwarding, voice mails etc.

What makes it different from telephones is that you can direct the voice mails which are coming to you to be sent to your email id’s which you can save in them, free of cost long distance calling, the convenience for taking your majicjack with you anywhere in the world without worrying about roaming charges and all and make phone calls using nothing but high speed internet connection without need for having an actual telephone.

For owning and using a magic jack device, you will need to spend just $19.95 for a year.
The initial purchase will be costing around $39 because it includes the price of magic
jack device which comes around $20 and also the one year service charge which is
mentioned above. For the coming years, you will have to pay only the service charge,
this is indeed the very cheapest VoIP service which enables you to call anywhere in US
and Canada at a really nominal rate which comes to only $1.66 for a month.

You can say that MagicJack is actually a revolution in the telecommunication sector in all of US and Canada. This is nothing but a simple communications device which enables its users to make calls to almost any phones in the whole USA and Canada and that too in a very cheap rate. It actually looks more like larger USB flash drive and
it also works similarly. You can plug them into the USB port of the computer, this device also uses the standard RJ-11 Jack which can be used for plugging any kind of standard telephone.

Magic jack provides Internet Telephony or simply VoIP service in association with the
telecommunications giant, YMAX Corporation in entire USA and Canada and no other
service has been able to match these services which are provided by MajicJack. In
simple words, you can say that magicjack is just like a normal telephone, having all the
features like caller ID, call waiting, call conferencing, call forwarding, voice mails etc.

Well if that is the case, what is so much special about this tiny device? Well it does
have a number of features which a normal telephone can never have, like the ability to
direct the voice mails which are coming to you to be sent to your email id’s which you
can save in them, the free of cost long distance calling, the convenience for taking your
majicjack with you anywhere in the world without worrying about roaming charges and
all and most importantly, the unique ability to make phone calls using nothing but high
speed internet connection without need for having an actual telephone.

Just plug it to your computer, run the support software which and set up your device
and make your very first call using magic jack within ten minutes of plugging the device
to the computer, it’s as simple as that.

When you are using magic jack for making calls, you might come across several
errors, only if those errors are fixed accordingly, two of the most common and perhaps
confusing errors which appear when you are using magicjack. They are Error 401 and
Error 3. The message which come when error 401 is “please restart your device and try
again” and that appearing with error 3 is “please connect to the internet and double click
here [error 3]”

Error 401 might be occurring because the device is not properly recognized by the
computer, for making the computer recognize the device properly; you can carry out a
few simple steps as follows,

First of all, unplug the device from the computer, then you have to delete a
particular folder MJUSBSP from the computer, you can find it in C:\Documents and
Settings\User\Application Data

Please note that I’ve used User but on your computer, it will be the particular name
which you have given to the account. Once you locate the folder, delete it. This should
fix the error, if it didn’t solve the problem, you will have to follow the next step which is
somewhat complex and should be carried out only by an expert.

What you have to do is to delete a particular file from registry. For that, you
go to registry editor by going to start menu – select run – type in “reg edit”
and press enter, registry editor window will be opened, in that you go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USBSTOR

You will find this file in there, Disk&Ven_Ymax&Prod_MagicJack&Rev_2.00. You
have to delete it by right click – delete. After that, exit the registry editor and restart
the device. Then the problem will be rectified following a fresh installation of magicjack
settings.

For fixing error 3, you can follow the following steps, just Click “Menu” on the top
right-hand corner of the magicjack interface, Click “Advanced Users >” tag, then click
on “Restart” after that open port 5060 and 5070 UDP on ALL firewalls and your router,
if you have got a firewall on your system. After that, just restart the magicjack again.
Once you do it, the connection will be possible and the device will work as it should be.

So you are thinking to get yourself the magicjack for making phone calls at a really
cheap rate? Congratulations for that wise decision. Once you order the device and get it
shipped to your place, you will need to know how to set up the device and make it work
with your computer and broadband connection enabling you to start making calls right?
Well, I’m here you to help you regarding that only.

So, let me assume that you have got the product with you, what you will see in the
package are the following, you will see the MagicJack USB device, a USB extension
cord which you can use if needed, the device which is probably in your hand right now
measures about two and a half inches long, 1.3 inches wide and about .3 inches thick.
The USB cord will have a length of about 4.25 inches.

First of all, just connect the device with your computer using the standard USB
port. Then through the standard RJ-11 Jack, connect the telephone cable too to the
device. Then the setup will be starting automatically and you just have to follow the
instructions as they come in the screen. Once the installation is complete, you will see
the magicjack’s pc interface on the screen.

For making a call, all you have to do is to dial the number using the phone which is
connected to the device, the software interface will record the details of the number you
have dialed and you can call that number again simply by clicking those records. If the
pc is not on when a call is coming for you, then the call will be recorded and stored as
voice mail and it will be sent to you when you switch on the computer again. You need
to set up an email id in case you want to redirect those voice mails to your email. This
can also be done by following the simple steps mentioned when you click that particular
option.

All of you know the fact that MagicJack is indeed something like a revolution in the
telecommunication sector in all of US and Canada right? Well this magic jack is nothing
but a simple communications device which helps the users for making calls to almost
any phones in the whole USA and Canada and that too in a very cheap rate. You can
say that it looks more like larger USB flash drive and it also works similarly. MagicJack
can be plugged into any computer using USB port and it can be connected with any
standard telephone using the standard RJ-11 Jack provided. MagicJack uses the VoIP
(Voice over Internet Protocol) method for making telephone calls and is indeed a much
cheaper way for the same.

There is a special kind of software inside the magicjack device which along with the
help of high speed internet makes it possible for using landline telephones to make
VoIP calls through internet when they are plugged into the device from anywhere in the
world.

Wondering how this tiny device makes it all possible? Well this unique device is capable
of changing the analog voice signals of the landline telephone into the digital data
packets which can be sent through the internet. These packets are actually sent to the
magicjack’s own network spread in the internet which comprises dedicated switches
and all.

This digital data packet is then converted back to the analog voice signal when it
reaches the destination for making the landline in the receiver side capable of accepting
the signal. Thus communication is carried out through internet effectively using the
magicjack.

For owning and using a magic jack device, you will have to spend just $19.95 for a
year. The initial purchase will be costing around $39 because it also includes the price
of magic jack device which comes around $20 along with the one year service charge
which is mentioned above. For the coming years, you will have to pay only the service
charge for making the calls through the device.
