Web-based emails are great because we can check the mails from any where irrepective of the place. But it is limited to the internet connection. But there are lots of times, we can’t access the webmail because of the unavailabilty of internet connection. Now that problem is cured by Gmail by introducing their Gmail Offline. So if we are offline, just open the browser and go to the gmail.com and , get the mails are we usually do.

This is done by the help of Google Gears. Gmail uses Gears to download the local cache of our mails. When we lose the internet connection Gmail automatically switches to Offline mode and use the local hard drive to store the information instead of sending across the network. We can read mails, star, label and whatever we want to do when we are doing it in online.

To enable this service:

  • Click the Settings and Labs Tab
  • Select Enable next to the Offline Gmail
  • Click Save Changes
  • After our browser reloads there is a new tab Offline near to the username. Click to activate the Offline mode. If you dont install the gears previously try to install along the process.
