It’s been rumored that iPad 5 will be 33 percent lighter than iPad 4. According to Digitimes sources, This lighter 5th generation tablet from Apple will start it’s mass production by July. Apple will be able to roll out 2 million to 3 million units from September onwards. There is a rumor that 652 grams of the fourth generation iPad will cut down to around 489 grams in fifth generation.
Tim Cook, Apple CEO has recently said: “Our teams are hard at work on some amazing new hardware, software, and services that we can’t wait to introduce this fall and throughout 2014.” Cook is indirectly suggesting that we need to wait for just few more months to get an iPad 5. iPad 5 will keep the same 2,048 x 1,536 retina display by using a thinner 0.2mm piece of glass and one LED light bar for backlighting.
It’s been said that iPad 5’s touch panel will feature a GF2 bonding. It will have one layer of glass and two layers of ITO film, instead of iPad 4’s G/G bonding. There is a rumor that Apple is slowly moving manufacturing away from it’s long-term partner, Foxconn. This is mainly due to the recent management changes at Foxconn making the company less reliable. Apple will have to set up a new production line if it happens like that.
iPad 5 will have thin design and it will have narrower bezels as well. There are rumors that iPad 5 will have the same design like that of iPad Mini. The latest leak comes from with a picture that allegedly shows the rear shell of the iPad 5. However it’s hard to tell anything from the low-resolution photo, but still you can discover that the rear shell shows a tablet that’s thinner than the iPad.
The case of iPad 5 will also be thinner and the tablet will also have the same screen size like iPad 4. iPad 5 will also feature a 9.7inch screen like the iPad 4, butit comes with a thinner bezel. Many says that iPad 5 will look like a large iPad Mini.
Many industry insiders are indicating that Apple’s iPad 5 will feature the latest technology by using an IGZO (Indium Gallium Zinc Oxide) screen. IGZO screens will consume 90 per cent less power while displaying still images. This will enable battery life to last longer. There is also a rumor that iPad 5 will get a slimmer LED backlight. iPad 5 is also expected to come with a wireless charging option. iPad 5. Will also feature an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera inorder to improve the quality of the tablet’s shots.
