There is a buzz in the tech world that Google is soon going to launch it’s next generation Nexus 7 tablet at its annual I/O event, which will take place on May 15. According to a news report by AppleInsider, this next generation tablet will come with a high-resolution screen. It is expected that the tablet will have a 7-inch LTPS display with 1,980X1,200 pixel resolution.
Nexus 7 will also come with a 5-megapixel rear camera. It will even support wireless charging, which will be made by Texas Instruments. However,the price of the new tablet will stay the same $199. It’s been expected that Google Nexus 7 tablet will come with smaller bezels just like the Apple iPad mini. Nexus 7 will also have a better battery life and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. It’s been expected that Nexus 7 will come up with the latest version of Android – Key Lime Pie.
It’s also said that the soon to be released iPad mini will also tough competition to Nexus 7. Though it comes with a faster processor, and a sharper screen when compared to the iPad mini but Apple is believed to come up with interesting features for iPad mini that would possibly release in July. Google will also adopt the same distribution model for its new tablet like before. New Nexus 7 will be thinner and lighter than the current generation Nexus 7. The display enhancement will put the Nexus 7 up there in the big leagues in terms of sharpness, and the implementation of new Qualcomm processor will definitely help keep tings ticking over smoothly.
Nexus 7 could also face a new competitor with Microsoft getting ready to launch a 7-inch version of its not so-successfultablet, the Surface. Apart from the next generation Google Nexus 7, there are also rumours regarding Google making gaming related announcements at Google I/O 2013, which is being held in San Francisco from May 15 to 17.
Ming chi Kuo of KGI securities have mentioned that this device could start shipping from June or July. It’s even believed that Google will increase it’s production for getting strong early sales. He foresees the revamped Nexus 7 shifting in excess of five million units in the remaining six months of the year, and with Google will soon hit the market with a tablet that offers a better value for money.
